Klarrissa Chavez explored hydrogen release during welding by designing creative, budget-friendly methods to detect gas output using mineral oil tests and hydrogen-sensitive strips. Her collaboration with a fabrication shop, a high school science teacher, and a college professor strengthened her experimental design and sharpened her critical thinking. The research affirmed her passion for agricultural engineering and inspired her to continue studying structural and materials science in college, where she hopes to publish her findings.
